polysaccharide.org
- polysaccharide.org is a portal site for researchers of polysaccharides including cellulose, chitin, callose, curdlan, hyaluronan, and so on.
- The purpose of this site is reorganization of the knowledge that is stored by a lot of researchers' efforts in the polysaccharide researches, and the knowledge is distinguished according to "It is clarified for a fact based on an experimental result", "It is presumed from a result", "It is predicted by a computar program", and "It is believed widely", etc.
- Information on molecules such as compounds and proteins is collected, and those functions and the relations between them (e.g. interactions and regulations) are described based on the facts published in literatures.
- The information is described using ontologies (controlled vocabulary), and the Gene Ontology (wikipedia) is used mainly here.
- The functions and relations of molecules are described with a published literature if reference information is available. Each description includes Evidence Code provided by the Gene Ontology project.
- Contents in this site place a disproportionate emphasis on the cellulose biosynthesis field because the site creator is a researcher in the field. But it doesn't mean to eliminate contents in other polysaccharide research areas.
- This site is still under construction.
